Technical college training in fine woodworking

High-quality college training

Technical college training in fine woodworking

The École d’ébénisterie d’art de Montréal (ÉÉAM), in collaboration with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal (CVM), offers high-quality college training taught by professionals: Technique en métiers d’art, spécialisation ébénisterie artisanale (applied art technique, specialization in fine woodworking). During this three-year program, you will learn all the techniques needed to design and fabricate furniture, objects, and artworks made of wood, as unique pieces, in limited series, or made to measure.

The courses are given to small groups by experienced professional craftspeople involved in the design and woodworking fields. In addition to offering high-quality teaching based on traditional expertise, we emphasize design, creativity, and conceptual development in order to offer training balanced on the technical and artistic levels: inspired by tradition, but defined by a contemporary approach.

Technique en métiers d’art, spécialisation ébénisterie artisanale

In our program, you’ll learn all the steps in producing a fine-woodworking project, from design and drafting the technical drawing to choosing materials, shaping and ornamentation, and finishing techniques.

Guided by our devoted and qualified team, you’ll learn to develop your creativity and dexterity and to safely use all the latest hand tools and machine tools. In addition, a series of courses on management and marketing will enable you to cultivate your entrepreneurial knowledge and talents so you can be a professional fine woodworker.

Fine woodworking specialization courses and general courses

We give the program’s specialization courses in our specialized school-workshop. These courses are given to small groups by professional and experienced artisans and craftspeople involved in the design or fine-woodworking field.

As a complement, the Cégep du Vieux Montréal offers general college training courses on its own premises. The course schedules are formulated to minimize travel between the two schools.
