Le rembourré EN • Upholstering a pouf seat
CO-LINGUAL COURSE
Create a pouf with decorative buttons
This course introduces you to the basics of upholstery by guiding you through the process of making a pouf with decorative buttons. You’ll learn essential techniques while creating a padded seat with exposed wooden legs, customized with the fabric of your choice.
You will be guided through the key steps of upholstery, including the installation of straps, foam, and cover fabric, with a special focus on the quality of the finish. You’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind ottoman, designed and crafted by your own hands.
PLEASE NOTE : This course is co-lingual (French–English), which means that francophone and anglophone participants form a single group and attend the same classes. The trainer adjusts the language of teaching to accommodate the group or alternates between French and English. All participants may speak the language of their choice, and the trainer will make sure that everyone understands the content.
It is not necessary to be bilingual to register, but basic understanding of both languages may be helpful. Because this course is based on manual work and individual exploration, it is particularly well suited to this way of working. We consider linguistic diversity an asset, and we ask that you show inclusiveness, kindness, and respect.

Answers to frequently asked questions about seat upholstery
Is upholstery accessible to beginners?
Yes, upholstery is accessible to beginners, even those with no prior experience. With the right guidance, you can quickly learn the basics of upholstery.
In Le rembourré EN course, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques step by step in a guided, hands-on setting, creating a practical, functional piece in just 6 hours.
What is a upholstery seat?
The seat of a chair is the part you sit on, designed to provide comfort and support. In the case of a pouf, the base consists of a wooden frame (frame and legs) to which the seat is attached.
In this course, you will learn how to upholster the seat of a pouf with four exposed wooden legs. Using a pre-assembled wooden frame provided by ÉÉAM, you will create a upholstery, tufted pouf customized with the fabric of your choice.
What is the difference between buttons and tufting in upholstery?
Buttoning involves securing specific points on an upholstered surface to create depth and hold the materials in place. Tufting, on the other hand, goes further by incorporating folds between these points, requiring more advanced fabric manipulation.
In this course, in addition to learning the basics of upholstery, you will learn how to cover, position, and secure buttons to create depth and give structure to the seat. This accessible technique allows you to achieve a refined finish in just a few hours.
