Understanding, recognizing and buying wood
BEGINNER CLASS – No prerequisites
Demystify this noble and warm material that is wood! This course will allow you to discover the main physical characteristics of wood (density, grain orientation, humidity level, etc. ) and to recognize more than ten native wood species. You will also learn how to calculate the BFT (Board feet, the unit of volume used for sawn wood) and recognize the main wood defects. You will speak the language of the initiates and will finally be well equipped to buy raw wood in a wood yard. You will also leave with a game of identification of wooden planks, presenting the ten most common species.
