Studio-School
The École d’ébénisterie d’art de Montréal (ÉÉAM) offers, in collaboration with the Cégep du Vieux Montréal, a technical college program in Applied Arts and Crafts – Fine Woodworking discipline. Borne of Jean-Marie Gauvreau’s École du meuble tradition, a beacon institution in Quebec’s creative furniture sphere of the last century, the ÉÉAM is dedicated to the training and development of fine woodworking artists in Quebec. On top of its quality technical education based on traditional know-how, the ÉÉAM has chosen to focus on design, creation and conceptual development in order to provide a balanced program on both technical and artistic perspectives; inspired by tradition, yet defined by a contemporary approach.

This three-year program will introduce you to a set of techniques necessary to design and build one of a kind, limited series or custom-made wood furniture, objects and creations.

Supported by qualified teachers and workshop technicians, you will learn to use safely a series of hand and power tools, as well as quality machine-tools . Furthermore, a series of courses on management and marketing will allow you to develop your knowledge and entrepreneurial skills in order to become a professional woodworker/designer.
You can take advantage of activities and events specially aimed at the school’s students and graduates, such as exhibits, conferences, skills workshops, awards and contests, etc. Register to attend the ÉÉAM and enter a welcoming, open and stimulating learning environment!
